OSHA HazCom Standard Update

Join CCNJ on June 26th at 10:00 AM as presenters from Lion Technology provide a comprehensive update on the recently finalized OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom) revisions, which will go into effect on July 19, 2024.

Workshop Highlights:
  • Detailed explanation of the changes in the Final Rule published on May 20, 2024, aligning the HazCom Standard primarily with the 7th Revised Edition of the Globally Harmonized System for Classifying and Labeling Chemicals (GHS).
  • Insight into what these changes mean for your HazCom plans and how to ensure compliance.

Key Updates to OSHA HazCom Regulations (29 CFR 1910.1200):
  • Codifying existing OSHA interpretations on labeling very small containers.
  • Updating rules for GHS labels on bulk chemical shipments.
  • Adding one new hazard class (desensitized explosives) and three new hazard categories.
  • Providing relief related to updating hazard labels for containers "released for shipment."
  • Revising rules for trade secrets on Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Moving the definition of "combustible dust" to the definitions section.
  • Fixing inconsistencies and clarifying rules for GHS and DOT labeling for shippers.
  • For workplaces subject to OSHA HazCom regulations—such as chemical manufacturers, importers, distributors, and employers—these updates are crucial for maintaining compliance with hazard classifications, container labels, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements, and more.
