About the New Jersey Chemistry Council Education Foundation

Founded in 1999, the New Jersey Chemistry Council Education Foundation (NJCCEF), administered by the Chemistry Council of New Jersey, has raised more than $225,000 to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education and the many opportunities available in the business of chemistry.

Past supported events include the Teachers, Industry and the Environment (TIE) workshop, which offered a select group of kindergarten through eighth grade science teachers the opportunity to attend workshops facilitated by education and industry experts.  The workshops designed in conjunction with organizations like the Liberty Science Center and Chemical Heritage Foundation provided hands-on experiments and lessons that teachers might incorporate into their science curriculum. The educators learned new techniques to increase students’ interests in science and science related careers.

The NJCCEF also helps to promote an interest in science by promoting chemistry poster/essay contests.  As well, when requested, the Foundation handles speaker requests from schools and other related organizations.

The Foundation also supports other non-profit organizations in New Jersey that promote science education, particularly among younger students.

The NJCCEF has supported the following organizations:

  • New Jersey Academy of Science;
  • New Jersey Governor’s STEM Scholars Program;
  • New Jersey Science Olympiad;
  • New Jersey Science Convention; and
  • Students-2-Science.
