Policy

Over 96% of all manufactured goods are directly touched by the business of chemistry, making our membership an essential part of every facet of our nation’s economy. Chemistry has long been a significant part of New Jersey’s economy. In fact, it is the 2nd largest manufacturing industry in the state.

CCNJ is an extension to our members’ public and government affairs team, as we help member companies prevent any regulatory or policy initiatives that may restrict their freedom to operate in New Jersey, or further increase their business operating costs. Our team helps navigate the legislative and regulatory processes to deliver positive results for our membership.

We are able to do this since our staff has developed strong relationships with policy makers in all branches of state government. These relationships put CCNJ in a prime position to ensure that our members’ needs are addressed.

In any given Legislative Session, the New Jersey Legislature can introduce more than 9000 bills, with about 400 to 500 bills of those bills in some way impacting the business of chemistry, including CCNJ member companies.

Our staff works closely with members of the New Jersey Legislature to promote legislation that is in the best interest of our membership, as well as to advocate against or minimize the impact of legislation which can have a negative impact on members’ operations. The Council regularly meets with legislators and staff to inform them of our science based approach, which is helpful to ensure our continued success.

CCNJ is regularly engaged on matters dealing with environmental legislation and regulations, health and safety, chemical plant security, energy costs, workforce development, general business operation issues, and many others. The staff at CCNJ remains actively engaged on behalf of our members, so that our members can focus on their day-to-day business operations.
